In the manual is written that bevore flight start it should be at least 9 satelite fixes
I think that spry flys best with 10 or 11 fixes then its really very good responding.
I recorded the last flights also with the goggles and could see which numbers are displayed.
So in gps mode normally fast forward is at 10 meters per second (40 km h) sometime short 12 m sec.
In atti at 1500 meters over sealevel 17 m s
Always - now also recorded i have about 5 meters difference after flight, that means the drone thinks that it is 5 meter up but was landed where it took off.. also the controller is at the same position as started.
Today i was 41 m up and 98 meter away from remote - remotesignal 98 short 97% never flew so high it was 47 m over ground as i stud elevated.
Fpv video really noisi better in 50 meter distance, i will test different antenna positions but have only 1 batery per day - still waiting for 2 reservepacks ordered via kickstarter.
Finally! With the freshly installed Windows 7 I have been able to update the Spry. By the way, not yet tested; I will do in the coming days. But they should tell what every update does, what it fixes and which new features they add...
So you know, I'm working on getting my second spry replaced. The first spry i had 3 batteries worth of flt. before I turned it over to my girlfriend who promptly destroyed it. I ordered a drone only replacement...got it on 3/26...and did update it with windows 7...and flew it 2 batteries just fine. On 4/5/2019 went out in the boat for water testing and after the second water landing it would not take off. Water had entered the camera dome and shorted out the unit. I sent that one back to Urban yesterday for assessment. They say 3-6 weeks to do this. I've more or less told them i don't want it fixed...i want it replaced because nobody would want to have future problems after salt water immersion. i hope they agree but who knows.
Thanks for the help Privatreal and delboy for giving me suggestions on how to actually comment! I never read the fine print!
I was never a kickstarter backer so ordered pre-order with Urban. Sad to say I got my first one about Jan. 1...well before most kickstarter people.
The first spry is toast...girlfriend crashed it. I ordered a second spry only drone for 699.00 from Urban and it arrived end of March. I did get it updated with my old windows laptop running a old version of firefox. Unfortunately i left the laptop on and firefox updated to a newer version and now i can't finish the update process. Shark firmware stops responding at the last phase is the message I get.
Anyway, the second spry flew fine...got two batteries flt. time over land and then went water testing two days later. I launched from the poling platform so it was dry to start...flew for about 8 minutes testing and all was fine except circle mode did circle but not around the controlled but about 100 feet away. Then a water landing and take off. 12 seconds on water before TO. Still it flew fine for a few minutes before another water landing. This time it would not take off. we retrieved it and found largish water drops inside the camera housing..and the controller screen was snowy.
I went back to Urban and they are assessing as I write. Both Urban and Kevin at Swellpro have been responsive and I'm hoping the outcome will be satisfactory.
Hi Privatereal, with the single file I have updated the drone only, not the remote. Sure that this guys should also place a "what's new" file with a description of what changes in the new firmware file and if one single file should be applied to drone only or both drone and remote. Thy are not doing that good until now and not only for the delivering of stuff to bakers...
I checked with Urban right after the crash and they said their shop rate was going to be about 99.00/hr. Parts and tax/ship extra. Since this drone was toast with a bent motor mount I decided to void warranty and open it up. I tried successfully to repair the motor mount area...broken screw mount holes got grinded flat..leveled and replaced with plastic bottle cap inside for a new base. Anyway, the motor was level and looked ready for flt test. I did have to cut the wire from circuit board to motor but did solder it back properly I thought. A bench flt. test got the drone armed with 12 satellites...good to go...but only clockwise motors fired.
So, I know I'd need to solder in the correct wire board to motor to repair as original and I not sure I could do that. really small soldering areas!
However, If familiar and good with circuit board soldering I think a tech could do a complete replacement in an hour...hour and a half. I'm sure i could have the body empty in 15 minutes.
There is a new firmware update and a new manual available on their website. They are getting better with the firmware refinements; I asked a changelog of the last version. These are the changes for SpryFirmware_20190420:
1. Modify the return logic to increase first and then return. 2. Modification gives gyroscopes greater fault tolerance 3. Increase the signal intensity of remote control in flight record 4. In order to better unlock on water and modify start-up detection, the vertical velocity is allowed to fluctuate within 1 meter at start-up.

tyuyrt: Hello, I just installed a new GPS with lid - it only works when the lid and cable are dangling down the side of the drone; as soon as I close the lid the lights flash yellow red and green and I cannot take off. I'd appreciate any insights.

chris: marksdrone: just had the same issue with mine. It may be the accelorometer that you need to calibrate first and then do the compass after that.
